As part of this year’s Swindon Arts Fringe Festival (SWAF), ‘Bright and Beautiful’ is a vivid exhibition celebrating colour, joy and creativity. Showcasing expressive, uplifting and positive artworks across a range of themes, the exhibition will be full of bold colour and joyful energy. I will be exhibiting a series of works inspired by journeys to far-reaching coastlines and tropical landscapes. Departing from my usual highly detailed paintings, these works are more graphic - distilling scenes into simplified forms and saturated hues that evoke heat, light, and sunshine.
Drawn from memories of island shores and luminous horizons, each piece reflects not just what was seen, but what was felt: the warmth of sun on skin, the intensity of shifting skies, the joy of unfamiliar yet welcoming environments. Colour becomes the primary storyteller, heightened and exaggerated to capture the essence of these moments.
These works invite the viewer to step into a sense of escape - celebrating the vibrancy, energy, and restorative beauty of the natural world, and the lasting impressions left by travel.
